If we are wondering what the heck "memetic mediation" is, then check out his 101 article written by Peter Limberg: https://thesideview.co/journal/memetic-mediation-the-hard-problem-of-the-culture-warWe will be having Empathy Circle training. This is a conversational modality developed by Edwin Rutsch, who has used this technique on the front-lines of the culture war, e.g. the 2017 Berkeley protest, and has actively been used by memetic tribes such as Extinction Rebellion. There will be 4 sessions in total. If you attend 3 of them, you will receive a "certificate of completion,” and you will be eligible to attend the Empathy Circle Facilitator Training that Edwin runs, which may happen inside The Stoa. Attendance will be taken. These will be 2 hours, please review this before attending: http://www.empathycircle.com/how-to-empathy-circleSee more events @ http://www.thestoa.caEmpathy Circle, http://www.empathycircle.com/1. FEEDBACK

Hi Edwin,

I thought I would give some feedback on the Empathy Circle today. I was part of the group that was very conceptual, where participants referenced books they read and concepts in the books and spoke about game theory. Another participant and myself did have a hard time following, and fully grasping what was shared and feel perhaps the facilitator should intervene if something is so intellectual? I did say quite a few times “I need clarification,”

The content was “theoretical” and if you were conversant with the ins and outs of game theory a participant might understand.

This reminded me a bit of when I worked at Microsoft and colleagues talked about the virtual word using in home references that an inner circle would understand but hard if you weren’t in that inner circle.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. I did share at the end I also found the conversation very conceptual and that I tried to bring the conversation back to real life examples.

S.
